An Angel in Her Own Right

An original poem written upon the death of my grandmother, Phyllis "Tata" Cooper (3/1/12).  She loved angels :)

“An Angel in Her Own Right”

The Angel of Death has come upon
Our beloved friend;
Her time has come, her time has gone,
For she has reached the end.
Wonderful, beautiful,
She has always been --
An angel in her own right
Protecting dearest kin.
The time has come to say goodbye
As she flaps her wings away.
We bow our heads to ponder,
Remember, and to pray.
Now the Host shall sure rejoice
At the attainment of one more --
A joyous one, a righteous one
Bounding at heaven’s door.
We’ll miss our loved companion
As she watches from above --
Smiling, rejoicing
O’er the ones she loved.
She’ll wait for us on heaven's shore,
For the day we reunite.
Though not too soon she’s hoping,
For we will carry on her light.
She’s taught us much that will endure
Throughout our longest days
We’ll think of her and cherish,
We’ll think of her and praise.
Thank God for life, praise God in death,
For the angel that we’ve loved
Is watching over all of us
And shining from above.

Table Numbers

Table Numbers for our Reception:
We bought a cheap, small chalk board and wrote each number, taking a silly picture with each, placed in small clear frames on the tables to mark the numbers.  On the entry table with the place cards, we put a similar picture with the chalkboard saying "Welcome."
